The University of Stirling is one of the partners of AwarEU Erasmus + Project co-funded by the European Union.  The project is a multilingual education initiative set up to promote democratic values, intercultural understanding and active citizenship.

The project consists of organising European Awareness Days featuring a music recital ‘Europe: What a Passion!’ (organised in 2016 and 2018), discussions with relevant stakeholders and experts, and a creation of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on contemporary European issues. They are designed to communicate information about the European Union in a fun, engaging and entraining way.

‘Europe: what a Passion!’ (by Daniela Martinelli and Francesco Pigozzo with Paolo Barillari and Michela Ciusani) is a lively and innovative recital show that narrates the history of the European Union since World War II to current crisis and unpredictable future. It engages spectators in the tale of a little known, yet all-important part of their own story, whose further development weighs heavily on our future and depends on our choices. A storyteller links twelve European well-known songs, as if they were twelve milestones in a long, turbulent and vital love story. Accompanied by figurative texts and graphics, the singing path allows the audience to recall specific atmospheres of the last 70 years.

The VLE features interesting and lively lectures on various aspects and topics of the European Union and is free of charge. It can be accessed in five different languages (English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish) here: https://vleu.awareu.eu/ (you will need to register to access the courses).

Under the leadership of International Centre for European and Global Governance (CesEU), Italy, other partners of AwarEU project besides the University of Stirling include Jacques Delors Institute, the University of Aston, University Institute for European Studies of the San Pablo, Lisbon Nova Law School and Centro de Informação Europeia Jacques Delors – Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros.
